But one of the things we love about New Mexico is how different our fall season can be.

Early October offers a completely different kind of beauty. The grasses begin to take on warmer golden tones, the light softens compared to the intensity of midsummer, and the mountains surrounding the ranch start hinting at the changing season. It still feels vibrant and green enough to celebrate outside, but with an unmistakable touch of fall woven throughout the landscape.

Alexia and Alfonso were married on a warm October day that felt more like late summer than autumn. Guests enjoyed the ceremony outside under blue skies, cocktail hour spilled effortlessly across the property, and dinner was served beneath the open sky as the evening slowly cooled.

A Cocktail Hour That Felt Like a Celebration

After the ceremony, guests wandered into one of our favorite parts of the day.

Instead of immediately rushing everyone inside for dinner, cocktail hour invited people to slow down.

Beautiful charcuterie spreads filled the tables, drinks were constantly being poured, conversations flowed effortlessly, and a live band created the kind of atmosphere that made everyone want to linger just a little longer.

This is something Blame Her Ranch does exceptionally well.

There is space for people to spread out, reconnect, explore the property, and simply enjoy being together instead of standing shoulder to shoulder in a crowded ballroom. During the early fall in New Mexico the weather can be warm and cool at the same time which creates the perfect balance to be outside enjoying the crisp air.

As documentary photographers, those unscripted conversations and spontaneous laughs often become some of our favorite photographs of the entire day.

Every Detail Told a Story

One of our favorite things about Alexia and Alfonso's reception was how intentionally every detail reflected New Mexico.

Many of their guests had never visited the state before, so rather than simply decorating a reception space, they created an introduction to the Southwest.

Thoughtfully designed table settings, carefully chosen décor, warm colors, and intentional textures all paid homage to the landscape surrounding them. It felt elevated without feeling overly formal, elegant without losing the warmth that makes New Mexico so welcoming.

Every table invited guests to experience a little more of the place Alexia and Alfonso had chosen for one of the most important weekends of their lives.

Easily the best part of Blame Her Ranch.


This venue offers so much for portraits, and the best part is it is all within a few minutes from your guests and party. We are easily able to slip out for a few and capture some stellar portraits alongside the cliffs edge, back by the ceremony area and even up near the house. Add the sun going down for those perfect dreamy golden hour and blue hour photos and you have yourself the creme de la creme of wedding portraits. Anytime of year this place is outstanding and an absolute must for your some portraits of you both all dressed up.

As incredible as the ceremony and reception were, the celebration was only getting started.

Once dinner concluded, the dance floor filled almost immediately.

Alexia surprised everyone with an outfit change that perfectly matched the energy of the evening, trading ceremony elegance for something ready to dance the night away.

Music echoed through the reception, guests packed the dance floor, cigars made their rounds outside beneath the New Mexico night sky, and laughter carried across the ranch well into the evening.

It felt less like a formal reception and more like one unforgettable celebration with the people who mattered most.
