As photographers based in New Mexico, getting the opportunity to travel for weddings is always something we get excited about. There's something incredibly special about telling a couple's story in a place that's new to us while still bringing the same documentary approach that allows every wedding to feel honest, emotional, and completely unique.
From the moment we arrived at Manor House, we understood why so many couples fall in love with this venue. Nestled in the foothills just outside of Denver, it offers sweeping mountain views, elegant architecture, and some of the most beautiful natural light we've ever had the privilege of photographing. Every corner seemed to offer another incredible backdrop, making it a dream location for couples who want timeless photographs without spending hours away from their guests. Fun fact the Manor House was built by a former photographer which is why its such a primo location for those cinematic shots everyone loves.
Not to mention, Jenna and Ryan filled their wedding day with exactly what we love most—genuine laughter, heartfelt moments, and a celebration that never once felt rushed or overly staged. A huge part of that was thanks to Manor House's incredibly well-orchestrated timeline (seriously, they know what they're doing).
Because the day flowed so effortlessly, everyone was able to stay present instead of watching the clock. That gave us the freedom to photograph without rushing from one moment to the next, allowing us to capture all of the little in-between moments—the quiet glances, spontaneous hugs, happy tears, and bursts of laughter that often become the most meaningful images from a wedding day.

If you've never seen The Manor House, prepare to be impressed. This 1914 colonial- style estate sits on 6 secluded acres just outside of downtown Denver. With panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains & the Denver skyline, its a dream.

And then came the party, with one of Colorados coolest DJ's keeping the music alive, the dance floor was nonstop energy. Guests laughed, sang and danced alongside giant cutouts of Jenna and Ryans pets. A hilarious and personal touch we loved and honestly better see at more weddings lol

If you know us, you know we'll never turn down an excuse to pack the car and head north to Colorado. We've been lucky enough to photograph weddings around Durango and Purgatory over the years, but photographing in Denver is a destination privilege.
Needless to say, we were excited.
The moment we pulled into Manor House, we knew this place was something special. Every inch of the property felt intentional—from the grand architecture to the sweeping foothill views and beautifully manicured grounds. It quickly became one of those venues where you find yourself saying, "Okay... one more photo over here," because every corner seemed to offer another incredible backdrop.
What impressed us even more than the venue itself was the team behind it. Every person we interacted with was genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help. It may seem like a small detail, but trust us—it makes a world of difference. When a venue's staff cares about creating a great experience for everyone, the entire wedding day feels more relaxed, more collaborative, and ultimately more enjoyable for the couple.

If there's one thing Manor House absolutely nails, it's the getting-ready spaces.
The bridal suite is bright, airy, and filled with gorgeous natural light—basically a photographer's dream. The clean, neutral design lets the focus stay where it belongs: on you and all of the excitement leading up to the ceremony. Whether you're slipping into your dress, sharing a first look with your bridesmaids, or popping champagne, the space photographs beautifully from just about every angle.
One little photographer tip: before your photographer or videographer arrives, take five minutes for a quick cleanup. Toss the fast-food bags, coffee cups, water bottles, garment bags, and empty boxes into a corner or closet. It may seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference. Instead of spending time editing out distractions—or limiting where we can shoot—we get to focus on creating beautiful, intentional images from every angle.
The groom's suite has a completely different vibe, and honestly, we love that too. Tucked away beneath the main house, it feels more like a cozy den than a traditional getting-ready room. Complete with a pool table, comfortable seating, and easy access to the outdoors, it's a fun place to hang out with your closest friends before everything begins.
While the downstairs space doesn't receive as much natural light as the bridal suite (this is definitely where off-camera flash earns its keep), don't let that fool you. Some of our favorite candid moments happen here—laughing with your groomsmen, straightening ties, sharing a drink, and taking a quiet breath before walking upstairs to marry your favorite person.

Okay... this ceremony view? Absolute jaw-on-the-floor material.
The first time we stepped out onto the ceremony lawn, we just stood there for a second taking it all in. The overlook stretches across rolling foothills and valleys before your eyes eventually land on the Denver skyline sitting perfectly in the distance. It's one of those views that somehow feels both grand and intimate at the same time.
Now here's the best part, turn around.
Behind you sits Manor House itself, perched on the hillside like it belongs in a movie. Between the stately architecture, perfectly kept grounds, and the mountains standing proudly in the background, the entire ceremony space feels incredibly intentional. There isn't a bad angle in sight.
From a photographer's perspective, that's a dream. Your guests have an unforgettable view throughout the ceremony, and when it's time to say "I do," every photograph captures not just the two of you, but the incredible Colorado landscape that brought you there. Manor House truly gives you the best of both worlds: sweeping mountain scenery paired with the timeless elegance of the estate itself.

cocktail hour done right
I absolutely love a high-energy cocktail hour, and Manor House absolutely nailed it.
Instead of keeping everyone tucked into one room, guests were free to wander throughout the house while the reception space stayed tucked away for the big reveal. It created such a fun, relaxed atmosphere where people could actually explore the venue, grab a drink, catch up with friends, and stumble across another gorgeous view around every corner.
One end of the house features a dedicated bar room that quickly became a favorite gathering spot, while the rest of the estate is filled with cozy lounge areas that invite guests to slow down and stay awhile. And then there's the patio...
Honestly, stepping outside makes you feel like you've somehow wandered into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. With sweeping views of the Colorado foothills stretching out in front of you, it's the kind of place where you can sip a cocktail, soak in the scenery, and completely forget about the outside world for a little while.
From a photographer's perspective, this layout is fantastic. Instead of one crowded space, guests naturally spread out, creating countless opportunities for genuine conversations, laughter, hugs, and all of those candid moments that make cocktail hour one of our favorite parts of the wedding day.
a reception space that doesn't need much dressing up
There's something about walking into a reception space before the guests arrive that never gets old. The candles haven't been lit yet, the music hasn't started, and for just a few quiet moments, you get to take in all of the little details that months of planning have brought together.
Manor House's reception space is effortlessly elegant. Natural light pours in through the oversized windows, filling the room with a soft glow that photographers dream about, while the grand stone fireplace anchors the space with warmth and character. Whether you're admiring the beautifully set tables, the carefully chosen florals, the cake waiting to be cut, or the sweetheart table where the two of you will finally get a moment to breathe, every detail feels right at home here.
It's one of those reception spaces that doesn't need to compete for attention—it simply lets your wedding shine.
always make time for portraits.
If there's one thing Manor House gives you, it's options.
Some venues have one "signature spot" where every couple ends up taking the same portraits. Manor House couldn't be more different. Within just a few minutes of wandering the property, you're moving from elegant architecture to sweeping mountain views, towering trees, and overlooks that seem to stretch forever. That is just the outside keep in mind, the inside others the most beautiful library. Every turn feels like an entirely new backdrop without ever having to leave the venue.
What we loved most, though, wasn't the scenery, it was how effortlessly Jenna and Ryan fit into it. We never felt like we were chasing the next photo or dragging them from location to location. Instead, we simply explored together, letting the property guide us while they soaked in a few quiet moments as newlyweds.
Those are always our favorite portraits. The ones where you're not thinking about where your hands should go or whether you're smiling "the right way." You're just together. Laughing, taking in the mountain air, stealing a few minutes away from the celebration before heading back to the people waiting to celebrate with you.
Manor House doesn't just provide beautiful places to take portraits—it creates the space for couples to slow down, breathe, and actually enjoy this part of their wedding day.

Their friends and family brought an infectious energy that spread through every room of the house. You could feel it in the cheers, the hugs, the spontaneous singalongs, and every round of celebratory shots. Before long, that excitement spilled onto the dance floor and never really let up.
the bar naturally became the heartbeat of the reception. Long before the dance floor was packed, guests had gathered from every direction, raising glasses, taking celebratory shots, singing along to songs they all somehow knew by heart, and laughing with the kind of people you can only gather together on a wedding day.
The space itself deserves some credit, too. The bar is tucked into its own room while still feeling connected to the rest of the reception, making it the perfect place for guests to mingle without ever feeling like they're missing out on the celebration. It's one of those spaces that effortlessly draws people together.
